Thank you for your interest in becoming an ACEND Program Reviewer. Please read through the Qualifications and Requirements for becoming a program reviewer below. To proceed with the application, you must check the box at the end of this page to confirm that you meet these qualifications and requirements. Qualifications:
  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) 
  • Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics membership preferred 
  • Master's or higher degree preferred 
  • Willing to provide professional leadership 
  • Employed in education or practice for more than three years 
  • Have a commitment to quality nutrition and dietetics education programs 
  • Represent major areas of nutrition and dietetics practice 
  • Represent different geographical areas of the United States 
  • No conflict of interest through Outside Interests or Outside Activities*

Requirements: 
  • The program reviewer position requires travel on two weekends and at least four weeks days annually for two site visits. Program reviewers must be flexible to transition to attending a site visit in a virtual setting in emergency situations.
  • Additional time must also be committed for the review team conference calls (which typically take place during the workday); reviewer of written documents in preparation for a site visit; and review and evaluation of progress reports or major change reports from education programs.
  • Program reviewers must attend the next scheduled training workshop before appointment.
  • Program reviewers serve three-year terms and may be reappointed for a second three-year term. If ACEND's workload requires it, program reviewers may be reappointed for additional terms. 
  • Program Reviewers may not serve simultaneously on other groups within the Academy that may represent a conflict of interest with ACEND® activities or violate U.S Department of Education regulations (i.e., member of the Academy Board of Directors, Academy BOD Executive Committee, HOD Leadership Team, member of the Commission on Dietetic Registration). 

 *Outside Interests: 
  • A Contract or Transaction between ACEND and/or the Academy and an ACEND Reviewer or family member (spouse, parent, child or spouse of a child, brother, sister, or spouse of a brother or sister). 
  • A Contract or Transaction between ACEND and/or the Academy and an entity in which an ACEND Reviewer or family member has a Material Financial Interest (a financial interest of any kind, which, in view of all the circumstances, is substantial enough that it would, or reasonably could, affect a Responsible Person’s or Family Member’s judgment with respect to transactions to which the entity is a party) or of which such person is a faculty member, administrator, director, officer, agent, partner, associate, trustee, personal representative, receiver, guardian, custodian, conservator or other legal representative. 

Outside Activities: 
  • A Responsible Person competing with ACEND and/or the Academy in the rendering of services or in any other Contract or Transaction (agreement or relationship involving the sale or purchase of goods, services, or rights of any kind, the providing or receipt of a loan or grant, or the establishment of any other type of pecuniary relationship with ACEND and/or the Academy) with a third party. 
  • A Responsible Person's having a Material Financial Interest in, or serving as a director, officer, employee, agent, partner, associate, trustee, personal representative, receiver, guardian, custodian, conservator or other legal representative of, or consultant to; an entity or individual that competes with ACEND and/or the Academy in the provision of services or in any other Contract or Transaction with a third party.
